  6. PROBLEM:       The error "IPX received an incomplete packet from <node #>"
  7.                appears on the console of NetWare 386 v3.1 sites.
  8.  
  9. SOLUTION:      There is a patch on NetWire.  The file name is IPXINC.ZIP in
  10.                library 16.
  11.  
  12.                Through research and reports from customers, it has been
  13.                determined that this error does not indicate any serious
  14.                problem.  The file server merely discards the packet and
  15.                requests the workstation to send another copy.  Known
  16.                drivers that may exhibit this error are the older NE2000 and
  17.                NE/2 drivers (both file server and workstation drivers). 
  18.                However, other drivers may also cause this error to occur. 
  19.                When these drivers are rewritten and certified for NetWare
  20.                386 v3.1, the error should no longer occur.
  21.  
  22. COMMENTS:      The following indicates other possible solutions.  These
  23.                cases have not been verified by Novell:
  24.  
  25.                1)   A customer had a problem with DisplayWrite 4 made by
  26.                     IBM running on NetWare 386 v3.1 running Token-Ring. 
  27.                     The workstation would hang when loading and the file
  28.                     server received the error "IPX received incomplete
  29.                     packet...".  The problem was solved by changing the
  30.                     packet size at the workstation when loading IPX (for
  31.                     example: IPX TBZ=2000).

  33.                2)   A customer was receiving the error "IPX received an
  34.                     incomplete packet" on the console.  It turned out that
  35.                     he had a DMA conflict in the file server.  After
  36.                     changing the DMA setting the error disappeared.

  38.                3)   A developer was running their program and received this
  39.                     error.
  40.  
  41.                     In his program he issued an INT 10 to the video with a
  42.                     scroll down (ie: al=0, cx=0, DH was the number of
  43.                     columns - DH had FF).  Instead of issuing an INT 10 to
  44.                     the video with a scroll down, he changed it to be
  45.                     number of rows equal to 24.  Executing the program
  46.                     worked without getting the error.
